The value of setting off early, where the early bird really does catch the worm……..
8am it was, as the Magic Textiles van left our Leek premises for The Macron Stadium, the home of Bolton Wanderers with Chris Shaw driving and me ‘navigating’.
The sat nav was plugged in, we had the van laden with our bounty of superb football-related textiles….indeed, even our boss Lee waved us off reminding us of our route.
“No worries, we’ve got it all sorted. Lee”.
Two hours later, we were parked up on The Macron Stadium car park – still early and with plenty of time to set up for the networking event, but not before we’d seen the sights of various Greater Manchester towns and dead ends, though!
I knew the route myself, but had switched into let’s-chat-about-the-football mode and let the sat nav take the strain. Problem was, it was set at ‘Avoid Motorways’. And we did just that. It was only a 30 minute delay, but that’s why we got out of our beds and set off nice and early.
There are a number of Football Trade Directory Networking events throughout the year, and this was the last one before 2018, so it was excellently attended by a number of key companies and people from the football industry.
The day was once again organised superbly by Football Trade Directory Managing Director, the genial and ultra-professional John Booth. These are great events, and we at Magic Textiles see them as both immensely worthwhile, and enjoyable, too. The range of companies exhibiting was eclectic, ranging from a football finance company to a leading firm that specialises in football design and architecture, and from an artificial turf and sports turf systems company to one that designs and manufactures bespoke football seating.
There followed four hours of networking with colleagues and also discussing what we do and what we offer to a wide range of delegates. Professional and amateur football is an area that lends itself perfectly to what we produce at Magic Textiles, and what we can produce if required: branded, bespoke textiles and products, for commercial, corporate or retail purposes.
We’ve worked with clubs and/or their third parties producing branded products and samples for their corporate clients and for club shop and online sales. From silk pocket squares to bespoke aprons, from cushions to flags – we can and will do it.
Designs can be classic or contemporary; meaning that you can provide superb products for fans of the past, present, and future. For example, got a classic kit? Then that would make a superb design for an apron, absolutely perfect for the football-lover’s kitchen.
Get in touch with us and we’ll show you the superb designs we’ve done: from iconic 70’s kit designs on fabrics and products to new club badges and branding.
At the end of the day we even gave some samples of our products (including cushions, tea towels, and aprons) to our superb hosts, Bolton Wanderers: with the apron sample based on their famous ‘Normid’ kit of the late 80’s and other products boasting their iconic club badge.
We returned to North Staffordshire after a brilliant day, pulling onto the car park at 5.30pm. New clients and friends made, and between the pair of us, we worked out that we didn’t need the sat nav and stuck to our tried-and-trusted M61/M60/A34 route.
Whilst we put the magic into textiles, yesterday we really did put the tragic into directions.
